On October 6th, President Biden made the stunning announcement that he would be pardoning all federal convictions of simple marijuana possessions and had instructed Attorney General Merrick Garland to begin the process of rescheduling the popular plant.

“No one should be in jail just for using or possessing marijuana. Too many lives have been upended because of our failed approach to marijuana. It’s time that we right these wrongs,” the President said in his remarks.

Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was later rewarded with a $2 billion investment in his company from the Saudis.

Was Trump trying to sell nuclear secrets to the Saudis? What else did he do for them to earn such a colossal payday for Jared Kushner? The American people demand answers!

Trump, himself a serial sexual predator with dozens of victims, had a vested interest in burying the allegations and dismissing them as smears. But Kavanaugh just ruled to strip away women’s agency over their own bodies — and he shouldn’t have been able to make any ruling, let alone one governing’s women’s choices, given the allegations that stand against him.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis and his vile coven of theocratic zealots are going pedal to the metal in their hysterical, paranoid, and gleefully authoritarian efforts to stamp out any and all dissenting political thought.

Their latest assault on civil rights and the First Amendment is the passage of the “Stop WOKE Act,” which “makes it unlawful for Florida employers to require employees to undergo training or experience instruction that includes any of eight forbidden ‘concepts’ regarding race, sex, religion, or national origin.”

Under the new law, the discussion of white or male privilege is banned, as is any discussion of oppression — except if it isn’t an endorsement. Employers can tell their employees that white privilege doesn’t exist, but disagreeing with DeSantis is now illegal.

This is an outrageous attack on free speech that has already sparked lawsuits from Florida companies, one of which has been allowed to move forward. But it’s clear this is only the beginning of DeSantis’ efforts to entrench white supremacist ideology in our institutions and society — and that it’ll only get worse if we don’t vote them out once and for all!

Following the overturn of Roe v. Wade, it became shockingly clear that abortion isn’t our only right at stake. This isn’t something they’re hiding anymore — Justice Clarence Thomas said point blank that he believes the Supreme Court should reconsider the gay marriage decision. In 2022, seven years after gay marriage was finally legalized through the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges case.

It seems almost unbelievable that our legislators would have to codify the right to equal marriage, but it’s a step that progressives have to take. This is not legislation powered by some “fit of hysteria” as anti-LGBTQ+ conservatives like insurrectionist Matt Gaetz want to believe, this is a necessary safeguard from a tangible threat.

To add insult to injury — 157 House Republicans voted against codifying Obergefell v. Hodges. In a split Senate, the Respect for Marriage Act faces an even tougher road ahead without our support. 

While some Members of Congress attempted to cloak their homophobia by deeming the bill unnecessary, like Ohio Representative Jim Jordan, others weren’t shy at all. Trump-favorite Marjorie Taylor Greene announced her bigotry, saying “marriage is between a man and a woman and that’s how God created it” before casting her vote. Legislators like this are exactly why we need to enshrine LGBTQ+ rights into law as quickly as possible.

Our worst fears about the revocation of abortion rights across red states were proven true almost immediately with the horrifying news that a 10-year-old rape victim was denied an abortion and was forced to travel out of state.

As if the concentrated denial campaign by Republican politicians wasn’t disgusting enough already, now they’re taking aim at the doctor who performed the abortion care and putting their life in danger. On July 13th, FOX host Jesse Watters aired the name and photograph of the doctor who gave the abortion to the 10-year-old Ohio rape victim while the Indiana Attorney General announced they would be going after her instead.

Demand law enforcement charge Jesse Watters with reckless endangerment!

FOX News has done this before. Bill O’Reilly, who mentored Watters, ran 28 episodes demonizing a Kansas abortion doctor, George Tiller, back in the 90s. Tiller was shot five times in 1993 by an anti-abortion extremist and was killed by another in 2009.

It’s obvious that Watters is using the same playbook here — and given the eagerness with which radical right-wing terrorists are towards using violence against the targets that FOX dangles before them, this doctor’s life is in serious danger.
