It will come as no great surprise that life-long con man Donald Trump has managed to turn his treasonous effort to subvert our democracy into a way to fill his pockets. Testimony during the January 6th committee hearings reveals that Trump and his cronies somehow raised $250 million in order to “Stop the Steal” and promptly spent some of it at his own hotels instead of on lawsuits.
Even after the short-lived and deeply embarrassing legal battle was over, Trump continued to solicit donations in order to stop the “left-wing mob” that had supposedly stolen the election from him, barraging his supporters with aggressive emails demanding money.
Hold Trump accountable for committing wire fraud!
“It’s clear that he intentionally misled his donors, asked them to donate to a fund that didn’t exist and used the money raised for something other than what he said. Now it’s for someone else to decide whether that’s criminal or not,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren during the hearing.
It’s pretty clear to everyone involved that this is a serious offense that he needs to be held accountable for, along with all the other 50 or so crimes he committed during his time in the White House.
